Colorado Blue Spruce Trees For Sale

Colorado Blue Spruce trees thrive best in Zones 2-8

Colorado Blue Spruce trees are medium-sized evergreen trees that can grow to around 80 - 100 ft tall, with a typical spread of about 10 - 20 ft. They are very distinctive and easily stand out from other evergreen and pine trees thanks to their silvery-blue, blue-green needles. This tree is also famous for its pleasing, pine-scented aroma often making it a favorite choice for the perfect Christmas Tree.

As such it's no surprise that this tree is very popular for its ornamental usess and value -- even making it the state tree of not only Colorado, but also Utah.

Aside from its use as an ornamental tree, it also can be used as a colorful screen or windbreak.

Another attractive feature is that this tree is very low-maintenance. Occasional fertilizer, and maybe some watering here and there during dry periods keep this tree thriving, which it does especially well in full to partial sun and nestled in rich, moist, fertile soil. Thanks to its aroma and the prickly nature of its needles, it is also very deer-resistant.

As far as most other Spruce trees go, Colorado Blue Spruce is a very slow-growing tree, unlike say the Norway Spruce tree which is more of a fast-growing tree.

There are also a few specially cultivated cultivars of the Blue Spruce tree. Probably most famously, the Dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce and the Majestic Blue Spruce.
