The White Spruce is a slower-growing large evergreen tree that can grow to heights of around 50 up to 100 ft tall. It gets its name from the white, waxy layer found on its needle-like leaves, giving it a more of a light bluish-green color. Starting with a 3 year old seedling, the White Spruce can typically reach 6 ft in about 7 to 8 years.

White Spruce trees can grow in more acidic soils, and thrives in well-drained loams and clay soil types as well as full sun. Due to its nativity to the far north, it is durable and can withstand high heat and drought.

The White Spruce requires little maintenance and can grow dense and symmetrical with little in the way of shearing and pruning.

The typical use for planting White Spruce trees are in landscaping ornamentation as well as making a great windscreen.
